What foods are good for your skin?
Choose foods rich in antioxidants, particularly vitamins A, E and C, such as leafy green vegetables and red/orange fruits and vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon, apricots, citrus fruit (orange, grapefruit, lemon), etc. There’s so much to choose from! And don’t forget omega 3, found in oily fish and nuts. Your top partners to fight aging.
As you know, your skin is a clear indicator of your level of hydration: dehydrated skin doesn’t have the glow of healthy skin. To keep your water levels up, in addition to drinking water you can enjoy fruit juice, soup and herbal tea. Regular tea is good, too! An excellent choice which will not only hydrate you but also contains antioxidants.
To maintain skin structure don’t forget to eat protein: fish, meat, poultry or eggs. And lay off the sweets and too much sugar! In the long term they will affect the firmness and elasticity of your skin. Also keep an eye on animal fats and hydrogenated fats, plentiful in pastries.
Last but not least, consider how you cook food. Steaming or cooking food at a low temperature will better conserve its nutritional value. Watching your diet is part of your Smart Aging! So, enjoy healthy meals with a varied diet that covers the rainbow of fruit and vegetables and you will be guaranteed of feeding your skin with all the nutrients.
